KEMA Recognized for High-Impact Sustainability Consulting

Winner of Green and Sustainable Business Award 2008

November 18 – KEMA’s sustainable buildings and operations practice was one of 18 recipients of the East Bay Business Times 2008 Green and Sustainable Business Award. The award honors companies that have invented technologies that further the green movement or have distinguished themselves by implementing high-impact sustainable practices in their business operations. The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Claremont Resort in Berkeley, California on October 16.

September 19 - At GridWeek 2008, a global annual gathering of Smart Grid stakeholders and thought leaders, KEMA will present its vision on Smart Grids and discuss global coordination. The speakers include US Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman, Pulitzer Prize winner and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, President of the The Foundation on Economic Trends and former advisor to several European Heads of State Jeremy Rifkin, and KEMA CEO and European Technology Platform Smart Grids Chair Pier Nabuurs.

South-Korean KEPCO and KEMA sign agreement

KEMA called in for expertise in high-voltage testing

July 14 - KEPRI (Korean Electric Power Research Institute), which is owned by South-Korea’s national electricity company, KEPCO, has asked for KEMA’s support with the development and use of its test locations. The aim of the collaboration is the exchange of knowledge and experience in a number of fields, including the testing of cables in South-Korea. The two companies have now formalized their relationship by signing a memorandum of understanding.

New Market Rules for Gas Balancing in Germany

KEMA study provided the basis for industry consultations

June 3 - The German Regulator has decided on a new gas balancing regime. The decision is the result of industry consultations which were based on a study carried out by KEMA. Amongst other things, the new market rules include the change from the current hourly to a daily balancing system, which was proposed by KEMA.
